How’s ACL treating you so far?
“It’s been totally surreal. I feel like I’m dreaming and I‘m going to wake up soon but this is real life so It’s been great.”
-
Growing up as a local musician, I know ACL has been a huge festival that you wanted to be on the lineup someday. So how does it feel being on the lineup this year?
“It feels incredible. I’ve been doing music full throttle all the way for the last 5 years so to have this finally happen after all this time it makes it all worth it. It’s incredible.”
-
How do you feel the Austin music scene has changed over the years, with many artists being on the ACL lineup and headlining various stages?
“Its evolved and changed and I’m so happy that there’s so many Austin artists that’s on the come up. I’m so happy for everybody else. I saw Alesia Lani, Jane Ellen Bryant, and Blackillac play. These are people that we started around the same time and we started coming on the scene and we’re all here now. It’s really cool. There are even bigger acts like black pistol fire. It’s just really cool seeing everybody raising each other up and being here.”
-
Let’s talk about your unique style. Do you have a stylist or is it all your creation?
“This is all me. I have dressed weird for as long as I can remember. I wore fairy wings every day for like 3 ½ years when I was in middle school and high school. I dressed like I was going to a rave every day; I had like 15 different pairs of fairy wings. I tried being normal and a hipster for a couple of years in college and it just didn’t work. When I started the music thing, I was like I’m going full-blown weirdo. I finally got a job where I can dye my hair and it was game over. I do my own hair with my friend Christy and she helps me. I’ll just see a picture and be like, I want that, and just do it.”
-
Is there anything that inspires your outfits?
“Aliens in space and mermaids and the rainbow and weird shit, like as weird as I can get without getting too weird like I'm into it.”
-
What is your next hair color?
“My next hair color is probably going to be blue I'm going to keep the orange for a little bit but I use Arctic Fox as a color and there's a combination of aquamarine and Neverland which is like a mint green so it turns into like a turquoise blue I want that so bad so I think turquoise will be next.”
-
Lets say you’re the booker for ACL fest. Who would your headliners be?
“Well, Lizzo, I'm about to see her I'm freaking out she would be on my list for sure. The cramps I've never seen the cramps. A couple of them are dead but like I would still see them and Banks, she’s really good I love her.”
