How's ACL treating you so far?
“It's great but it's fucking cold weather but it's great! I heard it was ninety-nine yesterday. And it's like 50 or 40 something. The show was fun, and the people are nice. I love Austin. I’m from Nashville so it’s similar”
-
So how long have you been like writing and performing?
“Kind of my whole life. My parents are musicians so it's like what we do or whatever the family business. But professionally three years. My anti rebellion was I went to college to be a teacher, like rebelling against music a little bit and then decided I couldn't run from it for too long. So I definitely chose it.”
-
What is your inspiration when writing lyrics and music?
“It's kind of like you know some people are very fictional. I respect people that can write story songs that are strictly fiction or inspired by something that's not themselves. But I don't really journal, I've never had like a diary or anything so it's kind of my version.“
-
How was it touring with The Head and The Heart?
“They are so sweet. I liked their music prior to that. So this was fun”
-
You have one EP out currently, and are you working on any new music soon?
“I’m a super perfectionist, so we are finally at a place where I’ve been like “lets go.” So now I’m just waiting on everybody else to get a plan and all the boring stuff.”
-
When can fans expect the album to come out? Any plans for a tour?
“Hopefully next year is probably the plan right now. Personally I love opening for people. So I love learning from whomever I can. So as long as I can do that I would love to. I’ll probably keep doing that for like literally ever cause you can always learn from someone, but I’ll probably do a lot of opening slots next year.”
-
Any artists you want to open up for? Any cities you want to visit?
“So many, yea I couldn’t even name them. There’s so many, and I love learning.
I never been to Paris before and I would love to play there. I heard playing Paris is absolutely magical so that’s my top.”
-
If you were booking ACL headliners, dead or alive, who would they be?
“I am unashamedly the biggest Coldplay fan on the face of the planet. Honestly I would keep The Cure for sure. Let’s go with Blondie. I’ll do one more since The Cure is here. Tom Petty for sure”
