Friday, October 4, at the Austin City Limits Music Festival was a day filled with incredible performances, vibrant energy, and unforgettable moments. From the moment I stepped into the festival grounds, the excitement in the air was palpable, enhanced by the diverse lineup that awaited.
Chance Peña kicked off my day with an engaging set, showcasing his unique blend of folk and pop. His heartfelt lyrics and smooth vocals set a perfect tone, drawing in an appreciative crowd. Pena’s charisma shone through, making it clear that he’s an artist to watch.
Next on the T-Mobile stage Stephen Sanchez gave us a heartfelt set that resonated deeply with the audience. His soulful voice and captivating songwriting drew everyone in, particularly with his hit “Until I Found You.” The blend of vintage pop and contemporary flair made for a perfect introduction to the festival, leaving fans eager for more.
Next up was Connor Price, whose infectious energy had the audience dancing along. His rap-infused pop sound resonated with the crowd, and his stage presence was magnetic. It was easy to see why he’s gaining traction in the music scene—his passion was contagious.
As the day progressed, I made my way to see Foster the People. Their set was a highlight, with classics like "Pumped Up Kicks" and newer tracks that kept the audience buzzing. The band’s infectious energy had everyone singing along, and their lively performance encapsulated the festival spirit perfectly.
Fletcher followed with a powerful and emotional set that showcased her impressive vocal range and personal storytelling. Her connection with the crowd was palpable, as she shared moments of vulnerability and strength. Fletcher’s performance was a reminder of the power of music to evoke deep feelings.
Following Fletcher, The Marías brought their unique blend of dreamy pop and Latin influences to the stage. Their sultry sound and enchanting melodies created an intoxicating atmosphere, transforming the festival grounds into a laid-back oasis. Songs like “I Don’t Know You” and “Hush” felt like a warm embrace, and the band’s chemistry was palpable, captivating everyone in attendance.
Then came the main event: Blink-182. The moment they took the stage, the energy reached a fever pitch. Their set was a nostalgic trip down memory lane, packed with fan favorites like "All the Small Things" and "What's My Age Again?" The chemistry between the band members was electric, and the crowd’s enthusiasm was a testament to their enduring legacy in the punk rock scene.
One of the highlights of the day was having access to the IHG Hotels & Resorts Lounge. This exclusive space offered a welcome respite from the festival chaos. With comfortable seating, delicious refreshments, and a stunning view of the stages, it was the perfect place to recharge between sets. The lounge provided a more intimate setting to connect with fellow festival-goers, making it feel like a VIP experience.
Overall, Friday at ACL was a whirlwind of talent, energy, and connection. Each artist brought something unique to the stage, and the atmosphere was electric. The combination of great music, community, and the perks of the IHG Lounge made for an unforgettable festival experience. I can’t wait to see what the rest of the weekend has in store!
